If you choose to connect a wearable device (such as Garmin), we collect health and fitness metrics including:
- Heart rate variability (HRV)
- Resting heart rate
- Sleep duration and quality scores
- Body battery and stress levels
- Activity data (workouts, steps, distance)
- Training readiness and recovery metrics
- VO2 max estimates
This data is synced periodically to provide recovery-aware training recommendations. You can disconnect your wearable at any time, and we will stop collecting new data from that source.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Generate personalized training plans based on your goals, experience, and available equipment
- Adjust workout recommendations based on your recovery status from wearable data
- Provide conversational coaching
- Track your workout history and progress over time
- Send service-related communications (account verification, important updates)

Third-Party Processing
Sherpa uses third-party services to generate personalized training plans and coaching responses. When you interact with our service, relevant context from your profile, training history, and recovery data may be processed by our technology partners (including Anthropic) to generate recommendations. This data is processed according to our partners' data handling policies and is not used to train their models.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption at rest and in transit. Sensitive credentials (such as wearable device passwords) are encrypted using industry-standard encryption before storage. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Technology partners (including Anthropic) for generating personalized coaching
- Infrastructure providers for hosting and operating our service
